Why, yes it was. Guess that is yet another urban myth. Good story though.

EDIT: With a little looking around it does seem that Coppolla did go to a show or two and was extremely impressed by the work of Mickey and Billy and wanted the Apocalypse Now soundtrack to have a "Rythym Devils Feel" to it. Perhaps the folks here just got this show mixed up with one from an earlier year.

I've just finished the February '77 show recommended below, so perhaps some 1980 will sort my afternoon out. This might also be a reason for the expressions on the faces of your co-workers (grimace not smile).
